Traffic Talks

Traffic Talks is a continuous performance in the public space. Eight cars act as carriers of letters and words. The words are constructed so that they are visible from great distance for anyone present in the daily traffic. The order of the cars determines the meaning of the words. The traveler – walking, driving, sitting in a train – sees the words go by or appear in the distance and starts to associate, to create sentences. He travels in the mind, becomes a bit of a poet himself.

Traffic Talks is a visual poetry-project linking to advertisement, poetry, typography, traffic movements and film. It is a site specific project: the location determines what you see and read.

Traffic Talks was first presented in june 2001 at the Rotterdam Poetry International Festival.

On September 18 & 19, 2004 Traffic Talks will be present at the Zuiderzinnen Festival in Antwerp.
